KDL47W805a - Black screen but with sound

Hello

My KDL47W805A has stopped working. There was sounds being played from the sky box through the HDMI cables, but no volume/ menu icons or the Sony logo on start-up.

After a call with Sony, it was suggested that it may be a software issue so I performed a factory reset (up arrow on remote + power on TV). This did do something but only as far as stop the sound coming though and a black screen still remains. No setup menu is visible.

Can anyone help? Have I not reset the TV properly?

The standby light is still white and remains on all the time (no flashing, no colours).

Hi Andy,

Sounds like backlight not working.

I would recommend contacting repair sercvice.

Ah I see.

I had hoped it would still be a software issue.

I’m surprised such a high end TV has got an inferior part in, that hasn’t lasted more than 19 months.

I have called Sony to see what they can do, but still waiting for a reply.
