KD-43XF7596 FW upgrade from USB not working

My TV currently has version PKG6.56290.0177EUA, and I want to upgrade to the latest firmware. It is not happening over the internet, so I downloded the latest to a USB (reformatted to NTFS according to another post here).

When I insert the stick, nothing happens. I tried all 3 slots, also tried restarting the TV. However, it does not seem to detect the USB. What can I do?

Did you try a hard restart?

If your TV is working ok now I'd stay away from any Sony firmware updates. If TV older then 12 months chances are the update will cause more issues then they will fix.

Yes, I certainly tried a ard restart. No USB detection.

There are a few reasons why I wanted to upgrade.

Security patching, stability
I am having issues with my media server, my NAS is just not being listed on the TV so I can's play content
The automatic preview feature from Google Play is so annoying. I have followed several recipies here for turning it off, to no avail

Nas are not supported natively by any sony app. You have in any case to install another app.

Preview can be disabled by home setting if I remember well regardless of the firmware version
