The allow button in the permission dialog box does not work I can only deny things as that button works. This is on a brand new Xa1 ultra.

do you use any kind of screen filter app, like Twilight or any other blue light filter? you'll have to disable those before you can tap the "allow" button, it's Android's security measure.

if you have Facebook Messenger installed and a chat bubble is displayed, you'll have to dismiss it before being able to tap that button, too.

if it's not the case, go to Settings > Apps > cogwheel icon in the top right corner > Special access > Draw over other apps, and try disabling the "permit drawing over other apps" permission for each app showed there, one by one, until you find the culprit.

because allowing a permission is more dangerous than denying it.

imagine that you download an app with embedded malware that tries to steal your contacts. you need to allow it permission to access contacts, but the person behind malware is clever - the app is programmed to draw over the permission prompt, so that the "allow* button is covered by a white rectangle with text saying "deny", and covering the "deny" button with a fake "allow" button. you'd think you'd be pressing "deny", while in reality you'd allow the access to contacts. that's why the system won't let you press the "allow" button if ANYTHING covers it.

did you deny the "draw over other apps" permission for all apps on that list? when you go to Special access > Draw over other apps, does it say "no" from top to the bottom?
