Phone keeps crashing and restarting?

I woke up this morning to find my XA1 Ultra stuck in an endless crash-reboot loop and absolutely nothing I've done has made it better.

Still crashes just the same in safe mode
Soft reset had no effect
Taking out the SIM cards had no effect
Tried to repair it with the PC companion several times, it just says "software repair failed"
I can't get to stay on long enough to perform a factory reset

Furthermore, it seems like any changes I make while the phone is on are reset after it crashes and boots up again. Apps don't stay uninstalled, networks I disabled are turned on again, etc.

Is anyone else having this problem? The only reason I can think of is that it downloaded some sort of cursed update while I was asleep that isn't sitting well with the phone. It's currently nigh unusable since the crashes are so frequent (a couple of minutes apart at most). Tech support said it would need to be taken in for repairs
