Ambient display not working after software update - Sony Xperia 1ii

The ambient display suddenly stopped working after a software update.

I have already tried restarting phone and checked the ambient display options in Settings but nothing works.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

You can try to do some basic troubleshooting steps like safe mode and check if the issue will persist or not. In safe mode, your device only starts with software and applications that were already installed on the device. If the phone performance improves in safe mode, one or more downloaded applications likely have a negative impact. Mine works but it certainly seems less reactive to hand waving, I always assumed it was due to my screen protector but I need to change that anyway so will test this.
