Xperia Z5 Stuck on Xperia Screen

My Xperia Z5 updated this morning. When it started up again it hasn't gone past the Xperia screen - it's been like this all day. I've downloaded the Xperia Companion but I can't do the software update because it tells me I need to unlock my phone - if I could get to the screen to unlock it then I wouldn't be having this problem.

I've tried to power it on and off a couple times, I've even powered down the battery completely then charged it up, still nothing.

I REALLY don't want to do a factory reset - is there anything else I can try? I'm just really confused by the need to unlock message as it seems to think my phone can get a lot further in loading up than it appears to be.

In that case your last resource is a forced 2-minute restart. (I think)
