Hallo everyone,

does anyone know if there is a possibility to change the automatic naming of camera-files from dsc_xxxx.jpg to e. g. DDMMYYYYhhmmss.jpg?

Hi @JayDee1282,

To my knowledge it is not possible to change this as a setting for the phone.

However, I searched Google Play and found this app which seems to do what you want. I haven't tested the app myself so I can't say if it works or not, but it seems to have good reviews from other users.

Every time when i took a photo the photo name would be DSC_0001 format type, is there a way to change the format to date?

No, probably not. Since this is feature hated by users of many Sony phones for years and Sony does not really care at all, there is low chance for change.

I just discovered that my phone had started over on numbering photos to DSC_0001.jpg and onward. Probably because I had to wipe every photo off the phone.

Come on Sony, we are in the year 2016, and do not need MS-DOS friendly file names anymore. Please make this configurable, with part of the filename being the current date/time including seconds. Please!!!

Sometimes I'm just really disappointed

But hey! The real solution is to start using the Camera FV-5 app instead, it has a nice user defined filename!

This is something that you just have to fix.

Have a Z4 since two years and just bought a X Compact. Now this stupid naming-design of photos makes the upload to Onedrive and other backup solutions owerwrite images when I start using the new phone.

It work as design but the design is useless.

Just bought a XZ1Compact and horrified at the lack of date and time in the file name. Wasted a load of time on how to change file names but eventually saw the light and installed a different app, Opencamera, from Google Play store and got what I wanted. Shame on Sony for putting its CUSTOMERS through this inconvenience.
