Yes, but you know apple, they only want their products to use their accessories, so there might be an issue with their headphones, even if all CTIA headphones should in theory work

Dear all,

I have purchased my Xperia Z1 (C6903) recently and it is excellent so far.. except for two issues that are really bugging me:

1) How can I turn the phone to silent using the buttons on the sides? I always forget to turn my phone to silent in meetings and it would be convenient to do it "in pocke".

2) I tried my EarPods (new apple headphones) with my Xperia Z1 and the play/pause/skip button functionality works, but not the volume controls. Are there any earbuds in the market that can offer volume control that is "compatible" with Xperia Z1? is there any standard/protocol that control these things?

Thanks,

Thanks uliwooly for clearing this one out. How about the inline volume control of typical headphones? i see that there is a standard called CTIA in the Z1 white paper, does this mean that the only requirement for new headphones that it should follow this standard, or is there anything more to it?

Cheers
