CMT SBT-100B "FW ERROR"

Hi,

Earlier this week while listening to the radio, my daughter commented how strange it was that my CMT SBT-100B stereo displayed "UPDATING" instead of the station name. It carried on playing the radio station and we thought nothing more of it.

The next time I tried to use the system, it displayed "FW ERROR" on the screen and is completely unresponsive to any controls. The standby light does not come on. I have tried the reset procedure (hold Stop button + Power button on powerup) but it does nothing. Just "FW ERROR" on the display.

It appears that this "update" has turned my so-far very reliable and very useful Bluetooth DAB+ stereo system into a useless brick. Sony support say they cannot help because it's out of warranty.

There must be something that can be done to restore this to working order?

Since you can't even hard reset it, you should probably have it checked out by Sony engineers using the UK or Ireland service centre locator.
