Wlan disconnecting randomly from Internet. Sleep problems.

Hello - if you are having problems with your Wi Fi connection disconnecting from the Internet but not from the router then read this.

I have until recently been using a Z1 Laptop with absolutely no problems with connecting to my router. As soon as I connected this FS285H within 10 minutes the connection to the Internet was lost. I had to disconnect from the router and re connect. to get my Internet connection. I may stay connected for 5 minutes or even 5 hours but it would disconnect at some time.

On top of this, this FS285h would not sleep correctly. In the same random way the computer would wake up for a period and then go back to sleep. Very frustrating.

If I turn off Wlan and connect a Asus WL 167-G Wif Fi USB dongle. My Internet stays connected and the computer sleeps correctly.

I tried to install the latest Wlan drivers from the Support site. Just will not install! Cab File Not Found!

The answer. I installed the Intel 9.0.2.1 Generic Driver.

THANK YOU INTEL! Works a treat. Installed with out any problems or deleting drivers etc. The installer did the job.

I'm no expert but the sleeping problem must be connected to the faulty WLan Driver or whatever, as now every thing is perfect.

My outstanding problem with this computer is that I am unable to make the restore DVD's. message says There is a problem with the DVD media. All media! Just not able to get support from Sony on this. Probably my last Sony Laptop! and I have spent £1000's on Sony computers.

Thanks for this - I thought it was something I was doing!

I have same machine, although my internet access comes in wirelessly to the house and then I use a router to send the signal downstairs to the lap top.

I thought it must have been something to do with this, as the connection kept dropping. I even paid for the Onspeed acceleration software to see if that would help things - the connection would drop in the middle of a page loading and then it would burst back on again making you think that the actual connection was slow.

I must try the intel patch and see how it goes - cheers!

Hello everythingsony.

I am sure you will find the Intel download will work fine. Do a System Restore Point beforehand.

I have had the new program running now for several days - it's 44.2 mb so must be more than a simple driver.

Since using it I have not lost the connection once and the computer sleeps as it should do. When I wake it from sleep it connects to the router and the indicator in the sys tray goes green. Perfect
