Noisy Fan

I have just purchased a VGN S2VP and I am very happy with it except for a rather noisy fan that seems to come on within a minute or two of start-up. This is something I have not experienced before (with the Viao PCG - C1) and wonder if there is anything I can do about it? I have looked at the power management and the CPU fan was set at level 5. I changed this to level 1 but it has not seemed to have made a difference.

I have heard that this series can be loud.

Yeah, it is kinda noisy. There isn't really much you can do about it. I putted my CPU performence in "adaptive" in the VAIO power manager panel. This makes the CPU run on 600mhz when I'm not using a heavy payload on my pc.
This won't let the fan go as loud.
But other then that there's no other solution. You'll get used to it though.

Thanks to both of you for responding. I guess I am already getting used to it. One further question. The fact that changing the power management from level 5 (performance) to level 1 (quiet) has not made any real difference makes me a little concerned. Should this have a tangible impact or is it really a cosmetic gesture?
