Have you tried linking via the headphone socket?

sorry I've been away. I have tried conectng to both the headphone socket and the Video/audio out, still same problem, Even when I conect it to my boston accousic computer speekers on my desktop no better. When I burn the same mp3 tracks onto CD then play on the stereo, they sound great, but that is defeating the object of having loads of mp3's on the laptop, no responce from Sony yet!

The only other solution would be to get an external soundcard.
