topic DVD ROM Games in PCs & Accessories

DVD ROM Games

I have just purchased Half life 2 which is a new game and is on a DVD ROM format disc. The problem being, that my VAIO PCG-GRT915M does know that there is a disc inside it, but it wont read any of the files- the explorer window comes up, but with nothing inside it. It wont even autorun like a good boy. It will recognise any of my DVD's, CDR's, and other games discs no problem. the disc works on my desktop. Just not my laptop. Why???.........

I have a feeling that this may be down to DVD formats, coz this specific laptop doesnt say that it can read DVD+ROM

It's factory pressed so it should have no trouble with DVD-ROM
Have you been able to read other DVD-ROMs?

I see. I have not tried any others because i dont own another game in DVD ROM format. arse. It does not say ROM on the side.

It can write DVD though?
Maybe you need to uninstall the drive by going to control panel > system > Hardware > Device Manager > Press on the + next to the optical drive > Right click the drive > Click Uninstall
