Everything works fine except the picture on my TV is in Black and white. I have tried different leads and SCART inputs with no joy - anyone know where Im going wrong?

Bit of a guess really, but...

I think there's a difference between NTSC and PAL picture formats, namely that if you eg. play a DVD recorded in one format on a TV that doesn't support the other then the picture is in black and white. Is there a function on the Receiver/PC etc. that allows you to switch between these 2 formats? Maybe that's something to do with it!

I'm actually in the process of setting up my NMR on my RZ424 too, still in the box so I don't know a great deal about it yet, but if this doesn't work and I notice anything obvious I'll let you know.

A Scart Cable is capable of transmission of video signals using three standards:

1. RGB - best quality.
2. SVideo - slightly worse quality
3. Composite - the worst of the three

The NMR only supports SVideo and Composite. Some of the pins in the scart lead are shared by SVideo and Composite signals. The result is if you send a signal to your TV as SVideo, but watch the Composite signal, you see the picture but without colour.

Try a different Scart socket on your TV. On my Sony TV I have 3 sockets. All 3 support Composite but only one supports RGB and only a different one supports SVideo. If you are sending SVideo to your TV you have to make sure that your receiving Scart socket knows what to do with it.

if your using the s-video cable change the input channel on ur tv to the one that accepts s-video i had that problem with my dvd player at first
