topic Are the mains leads detachable from the TVs? I have KDL-EX40503 and plan to wall mount it, so need a longer mains lead. It looks as if the lead should come out, but it isn't. Is it factory attached, and if so cut off the plug? in Other TVs

I just looked at the on-line version of the instruction book and it looks like only models KDL-55EX503, 46HX703, 46EX503 & 46EX403 have a detachable AC power cord.

If you can't bring a power socket up to behind the TV, then I think your only option will be to remove the moulded plug and extend the power cord using a suitable connector and terminate with a new plug fused with the same rated fuse as the original.

If you're not intending to use Sony's SU-WL500 wall mount bracket, please take note of Sony's caution about screw length, here: http://support.sony-europe.com/tvhc/hotnews/hotnews.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&f=HN_TV_HOOK&m=KDL-40EX403

I have the KDL-EX503 that I hope to wall mount, so need longer than the 1.5meters main lead.

It look as if the lead should detach form the back of the TV but I can't get it off.

Is it factory attached or not? If not, any cles as to how to get it off? If factory attached, then I can see no alternatice other then to cut off the plug and attach more mains lead which may nullify any guarantee, which is not ideal.
