Adaptive brightness gone mad - Xperia 10 Plus

I bought an Xperia 10 plus last week and I must say that I'm very pleased with using it so far. Definitely a big step up from my former Xperia M2. Except for one thing. The AI controlled adaptive brightness is trying to blind me. It keeps cranking up the brightness up to 40% every time I'm in a dim ambient and overall it keeps my phone at a brightness level higher than I need to. Ambient sensor seems to work fine according to xperia assist diagnostic. I guess it's kind of my fault since I usually set the brightness to a higher level when I watch netflix, the phone must have learned that preference and apply it in the most random circumstances. I tried hundreds of time to disable adaptive brightness in display settings, but it eventually turn itself on after 3 minutes or so. It's getting extremely annoying. Is there anyway to disable this feature or must I surrender to the fact that this phone will stab me in the eye as soon as night falls? (please help :'( )

Cheers to everyone

Gabriele

Do you have this setting?

I do uncheck this toggle dozens of times a day, it will eventually turn itself on after a couple of minutes (after few seconds in some cases). I also tried to reset adaptive brightness files via device health services, it still keeps going to ~40-50% in complete dark environment. It's really getting on my nerve and i don't really know what else can i do.

Then the best advice I can give you is to do a software repair with Xperia Companion.

Take care that your account is synced with Google, make a backup of WhatsApp and/or other apps and go for it.

When back running do NOT restore everything. You will probably restore the distortion too.

Wait! That best advice is a second best advice.

First restart in Safe Mode.

If the mishap doesn't happen in Safe Mode then it is an app you installed yourself that is interfering.
