Fingerprint sensor is disabled when phone is on

Once the Xperia 10 plus is unlocked by the fingerprint sensor it seems to be disabled until the phone is locked. hence i could not use any finger print gesture on the fingerprint sensor.

why am I doing this? to make the phone more like a walkman.

the fingerprint sensor is placed awakardly in between the power button and volume keys. what i was thinking if the sensor could act as a swipe up to previous songs and swipe down for next. a cool walkman function than just sitting there doing nothing.

or anyone could recommend a fingerprint gesture app that works with this side fingerprint sensor. very much appreciated.

Got the solution here

Get the fingerprint gesture by Vina Space.

You can't have swipe option because of the side mounted sensor but you get the press function. This is great as this is my dedicated Spotify next button. This now how I enjoy skipping thru songs in Playlist.

To avoid accidental next press, I set the spotify app to sleep in 15 sec. So from sleep I just tap the fingerprint sensor 2 times to open then skip track.

Well, something 's wrong with your device because mine works fine to authorise store purchases for example. I agree that the sensor could be used for many more things so I'm interested in any apps that would allow such. I will add that the sensor is right under my thumb when I'm using my phone so seems well placed to me. I can see how it could be an issue for left handers though but possibly the middle finger would cover that? I sometimes use my left hand to hold it and that works for me. Still, no worse than a rear sensor for lefties and at least right handed users have it easy. A rear sensor would be awful for all. I just wish it didn't occasionally refuse to work to wake the device. It is only occasional, but it is a pain when it happens.

Sony you are horrible.

With the update 53.0.A.6.96 you targeted to disable the fingerprint app to crash when it was working all this while. If you do not want 3rd party to access the fingerprint sensor then make it an option in settings. This is android afterall. You want to move forwards or backwards? Ball in your park.

I have that update, but my fingerprint sensor works fine in 3rd party apps still (works in my banking app). Sounds like an issue with the specific app you're trying to use rather than a general issue with all third party apps, have you contacted the app devs with your issue? They may well be able to help more easily.
