I've got an alpha300 with an tamron 18-200 lens.
Since a few months when taking a picture with the lens at 18 (wide angle) the far adges of the picture are black.
I droped the camra and lens once from 1 m hight. Can this be the cause of the problem? is the lens internaly damaged? can this be fixed??
Sounds like damage may have been done to the lens barrel. That is quite a height to drop from so I would recommend trying another lens with an 18mm focal length to see if the same happens.
If the same happens with another lens then the problem is in camera but more likely than not, if another lens works fine, get in touch with Tamron for a repair.
If you do not have another lens, try and visit a camera shop and try one out.
Hope that helps
HI, J. Elemans,
Check wether the picture you have taken is aligned to what you will see in the display if only the upper or only the lower corners are black this could be the Supersteadyshot who is internally damaged by dropping.
Check if the CCD is exactly in the middle by putting the camera in cleaningmode in the menu.
