Hi
A few times now I have noticed that when I power off my camer the back LCD has a backlight on but no text if you are in day light you would not notice it. When you goto use the camera next time the battery is dead.
I have not returned my camer as I put the latest firmware on last night and I am waiting for it to happen again.
Has anyone else got this problem?
Thanks
Niall
Hi Niall
Battery drainage when the camera's powered down is usually due to the GPS system remaining active.
While there are some advantages to leaving it switched on, you can de-activate it [Menu > tool 1 > GPS Settings] for storage.
Let me know if this fixes the issue
Cheers

Hi Mick
I have turned this off now and will try. Would this drain the battery over night?
Thanks for your reply.
Niall
Battery drainage is a known issue. Have you installed v1.04 of the firmware? If not, you should.

No, it really shouldn't drain it very much and if it does, it would take a number of days to noticably cause a big loss of charge. If you're experiencing a rapid discharge it may be something else.
I see you've already updated to firmware v1.04, which might help. The issue of a residual LCD 'glow' was reported by a number of users and was often fixed by removing the battery momentarily, effectively resetting the camera.
Let's see how the firmware upgrade works for you. If it fixes the drain problem, leave your GPS on again and see if that's ok too. If you still get the 'afterglow', let me know and I'll try and help you further.
Cheers
Mick
