Tethered shooting A77 update?

I note that 6 months ago it was mentioned that Sony were considering producing a firmware upgrade to the A77 to allow tethered shooting. I currently have an A55 and am using the HDMI lead which certainly helps, but is not as good as tethered shooting,  I do a fair bit of copy stand work as well as general photography.

What I really want to know is have sony made any serious moves on this or are they giving up on tethered shooting on the belief that enthusiasts just want faster shuuter speeds. I now have to decide whether to wait or purchase a Canon who don't seem to have a problem offering tethered shooting to enthusiasts.

The last i heard is that Sony UK had asked Sony Japan about adding it in a future firmware update. In other words, don't hold you breath waiting and you should buy a Canon instead of the A77. :slight_frown:

My A700 does tethered shooting, so you could pick up a second-hand A700, but of course the lack of liveview means that you can't review before you shoot.

Since I would have liked the A77 for use at work to replace the old Canon, they have lost an A77 sale.  I'll still buy the A77 for myself though as I will not miss tethering at home.
