BBC Ultra HD broadcast

[BIGR1978]

Can anyone clarify if (and when) the KD55XD9305 will play BBC's Ultra HD streams?

This tv isn't on the current list to watch these streams and it seems frustrating that a flagship tv isn't ready or good enough...

Can someone please tell me if this means the XD93 will finally be compatible with the BBC streams it says HLG will be available via a software update or am I reading it wrong?

Hi @stevenhenry   The article is about HDR availability not related to the BBC iPlayer. It should be easy to see if it is available by opening BBC iPlayer and going to the Settings. Go down to Try new features in iPlayer BETA. If it is available then you should see 1) for iPlayer - Play Ultra HD Trial (Planet Earth II) or 2) for iPlayer BETA - Play UHD test loop (FA Cup Final).

Thanks for the reply @LightFoot it doesnt work i thought Sony had managed to address the issue via a software update but I don't suppose it will ever work on my tv without adding some other hardware

if the bbc ever go forward and use their 4k 50 fps test as a perminant thing the answer is no, because sony cheaped out on the 9305's internals i know as i own the 65" version. sorry to say it but sony sold you a lemon hence their suggestion to go buy a roku, they are finally admitting at least the set works best as a dumb panal and not a smart tv as it was sold.

Thanks for replying i agree its disappointing it wont work when the BBC do go live guess I will have to buy some kind of addon eventually
