I have been using my Bravia 8 65" for over a year on the same settings and it has been perfect. However a couple of weeks ago it updated to the firmware with the new EPG without channel logos.
Since then the image on quite often starts to stutter. This can be seen on OTA transmissions through the antenna and on inputs.
When using the antenna it will often begin to get jerky/stutter and I can change channel and change back again and it will be fine for a while but sometimes comes back again.
I have checked all my image settings and they have not changed.
It would appear this new version of firmware has broken things and many people on AVS forum, Reddit & Facebook are reporting similar issues.
Juddering and motion blur still present intermittently even after installing the latest update on 19.08.2026 which was 114.602.170.1EUA
Watching terrestrial TV programs makes us quite nauseous. Same programs are fine on streamed services such as BBCIplayer.
Come on Sony, it is an expensive TV and it the issue needs to be addressed urgently
Since yesterday's update I am still experiencing the issue too
Yeah, I’ve still got the issue too. Really frustrating as I have 4 Sony TVs, two of which are these Bravia versions
Same here, still occurring despite the recent update.
It's weird. I was watching 'A House Through Time' on HD last night and captured an example video on my phone of the issue. The video shows normal movement, and then the juddery movement that last for several seconds, then stops and then recoccurs.
This is a £2,200 TV with a widely known issue that Sony have issued updated software for and still hasn't resolved.
Just an update from my side following the latest firmware release.
I have installed firmware 114.602.170.1 on my BRAVIA 8 II and unfortunately it has made no difference whatsoever to the judder/stuttering problem. The symptoms are exactly as they were before the update.
I have been discussing the issue directly with Sony and have been told that there is currently “no known defect” associated with the TV and that Sony does not consider the problem to be software-related.
I have asked Sony to explain the technical basis for that conclusion, particularly given the number of owners in this thread independently describing the same or very similar behaviour.
I’ve also asked whether Sony has reproduced this behaviour in testing and, importantly, whether Sony considers the stuttering we are seeing to be normal behaviour and within the intended operating specification of the BRAVIA 8 II.
I’ll share any useful technical information I receive back from Sony.
After updating the software, still having the same issue, stutter/ judder on Freeview HD channels.
My Ariel connection is via a powered splitter then directly to the TV. My other TV ( Panasonic Plasma) which is via the same splitter the picture is fine.
I also have a Freesat connection to the Sony. The picture doesn't suffer any stutter or judder on that.
Also I don't have the problem with any streaming content either.
I didn't have this problem until updating the software to version 114 in June.
Everyone needs to create a service ticket for technical support if they haven’t already
Yep, reported it.
Did the latest update today and issue still re-occurs.
It's only occurring on the Sony TV app (I haven't used YouView as it's so awful). It's easily resolved by switching TV channel over and back again but it's a pain to do that every time.
Sony have a real problem with this.
Having the same issue, stutter/ judder/ motion blur on Freeview channels.
I too have Freesat connected and the pictures seem fine. However, the program guide doesn't seem to work with Freesat.
Need to use the program guide on either the television App or YouView to see what is available, and then switch back to Freesat to watch.
Is there a full program guide with your Freesat?
