Hello everyone, Z3 Compact and C5 Ultra user here.
I dropped my Z3c that survived the fall but the screen detached from body of the phone, brouht it to my Carrier customer center and didn't wanted to honour the warranty because I accidentally dropped the phone and that is not covered. - Patience, my bad.
Bought an affordable C5 Ultra device that I love but I have some problems with it, I think I know the two possible solutions but I will like some expert to confirm my "fears". Uliwooly, looking at you 
So, the review:
The Xperia C5 Ultra feels like a premium device although it's known that it's just a super-mid device - best of all, really affordable and yet powerful. It sport a very nice display, almost bezel-less however it has an issue that thankfully can be fixed adding some blue using the white balance: the problem is that the display, out of the box, is somewhat yellowish.
By coming from a Z3 compact device the interface is really familiar, nothing new software wise, just less bloatware installed - a plus of buying unlocked devices!
*Initial* performance is great, you don't feel any lag, applications run smoothly and they load quite faster considering it's just 2GB ram and the resolution is full HD - a complain is the stock camera APP, take up to 10 seconds to load. Annoying.
The OS is 5.0, learned that Sony will skip 5.1.1 in favour to 6.0 - not a bad idea anyway I have few complaints about it.
The camera, although is just 13mpx, compared to the 20mpx camera of my Z3C is sharper, details are great and images are really vivid. I don't know how Sony accomplished that but the photos I take from the C5 ultra are with more details compared to the Z3C, in fact people think that I still take photos with Z3C - No doubt here, the idea of creating a great cameraphone is totally accomplished. Awesome job here, Sony!
Returning a moment to the performance, the device run great, it doesn't heat too much like the Z3C, the camera don't force close due to heating, apps run really smoothly and I can see that there is some awesome coding job in the 5.0 code as it feels quite faster than the Z3C.
How Sony accomplished all this, I have no idea but yeah... good job here!
The Issues:
Just, something happens once that the device have been on for few hours... but a bit of background first. The device after the first boot up and connection to the WiFi downloaded and installed 3 software update and now the final version of the software is 29.0.A.1.55 - Latest.
So the device, after a couple of hours, became quite slow. The first sympthom is that the Pebble Time and SW10 disconnect, the Bluetooth reset and devices reconnect. Once that disconnection happen I can take the device and I am sure that everything will be incredibly slow.
I try to open the camera and it will take about 20 seconds to open, hangouts take about 10/20 seconds to open, while usually take 2 seconds or less to open. All Apps will crash or become super slow, if I return to the home screen I will see it empty and start to re-draw icons. Device is quite unusable, unstable the only way to regain control of the device is a reboot.
In two hours or so the memory usage spike, and free ram is of about 198 mb - discouraged and almost ready to send back the device I have an idea and try to do a wipe cache partition but eh! The Recovery won't show that option. Bummer, anyway I open the settings, go in Storage and clean the cache...
... That did something, the device won't become unstable in 2 hours but in 8 or 10 hours of usage. - much better, anyway issue persist.
So I know now that this could be the dreaded Lollipop 5.0 memory leak, or it could be that after the 3 software update/upgrade the device need a factory reset or being restored using the companion app. And before asked, yes.. I tried it in safe mode: Same - So my questions are:
1) Will a factory reset stop this bad behaviour?
2) Is this the 5.0 memory leak bug and so a factory reset won't help at all?
About feedbacks, concernes & questions:
1) Good job with the Xperia keyboard, I don't know why on the Z3c have never been so responsive, but with the C5 it's really better. It's the first time I ditch swiftkey for a stock keyboard.
2) The text on screen, also if you select to have small sized fonts, in some cases it's too big. Can you add a "Extra Small" option?
3) Camera app it's slow to load, you could improve it.
4) If I use Google NOW voice recognition in all screens, the camera app show me a warning message about not being able to record because microphone is in use in other apps, I think this is a problem with lollipop 5.0 rather than Sony's problem.
5) Basically the front facing speakers are great but why can't be stereo rather than mono? - Come on Sony, this is a software tweak, not hardware.
6) The display is great, also if IPS-not-triluminos great level of blacks but the yellowish tint is annoying, it can be fixed by tweaking the white balance but if I switch from Bravia to Vivid or to no ehnancements the yellowish tint return, like if the white balance reset to standard values although if I go in white balance the settings appears to be there.
