CD player part of micro hi fi system stopped playing! Why?

Hi

I have a micro hi fi system CMT BX70DBi (about 2 years old I think with little use) and the CD player is now not working. When I put a CD in and press play, it says reading...whirs a bit then says NO disc. I've tried different discs, cleaning discs, re-setting it to to factory settings but no luck. Any ideas welcome and also whether probable cost of repair (if needed) will be worht it...
