@Laymon

Restart the phone and try again, also, if you have enabled the fingerprint a pin/password will be required.

@Laymon

I'm sorry to hear that, but if you set up the fingerprint lock, then you were asked to enter a pin lock as well.

Hi @Laymon, welcome to our forum!

On devices that features a fingerprint sensor, you will still need to use the backup screen lock that you set when adding the fingerprint and below you can find the different situations when this is needed.

  • The first time that you unlock your device after you have enabled fingerprint.
  • When your fingerprint isn't recognized after 5 tries.
  • After restarting your device.
  • When more than 72 hours have passed since you last unlocked your device using your backup screen unlock option.

If you forget your screen lock, you will need to reset the device using a computer and the Xperia Companion program, or follow the instructions below and do it using the Google service called, Find My Device. Do note that all data stored on the internal storage will be deleted.

  1. If your SD card isn't encrypted or used in a corporate environment, remove it before you perform the reset. Turn off the Xperia device before you remove the SD card. Turn the device back on when you have removed the SD card.
  2. On a computer or in a mobile browser, go to www.android.com/find.
  3. Sign in to the Google Account that you previously added to your device.
  4. If you have more than one device, select the device that you're locked out of at the top of the screen.
  5. Select Erase. Be aware that this action will permanently erase all of your data, for example, your apps, photos and music. After you erase the content of your device, Find My Device will no longer work on it.
  6. After you remotely erase the content of your device, you can set up your device again with your Google account and a new screen lock.

I hope that helps! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi again @Laymon and you're very welcome!

It sounds like they are going to remove the Google account to add a new one in your device, and if they do that, it's very important that you have the credentials for this account, as you may need them later on.

There is an anti theft feature in all our newer devices that will trigger when the device is reset and you will then need to use the Google account that was added in the device to verify yourself as the owner.

Let me know if you have any further questions once you are up and running with the device again and have a great weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face
