I bought my Sony Xperia L1 G3311 in September 2017, so it's about 20 months old. I've always kept it in a protective case, and there's been no physical damage
About two weeks ago, the phone began randomly shutting off. Sometimes it requires a full restart including restart PIN and SIM card PIN, and sometimes it just goes throught the Sony and Android startup screens but otherwise still appears to be on.
The problem has progessed to the point that the screen has been freezing in various pixelated patterns which it maintains for a minute or two until it shuts off. Within the last couple of days, it's also begun to make a loud buzzing noise like a power transformer when it freezes as well.
I've tried a full factory restart, but the problem persists. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
I'm sorry to hear that but you could try to repair it with Xperia Companion if you haven't done so, if you experience the same issue then you will have to contact your Local support to get it inspected/repaired.
I'd done a factory reset but not with Xperia Companion. I did that last night and used the software repair. The problem still continues. Does this mean it's a hardware problem? It's really frustrating to be having hardware problems after barely a year and a half when the device hasn't been damaged in any way.
Hi @foolishestsquid, sorry to hear about this.
If the behaviour that you experience was related to the software in the device, a software repair would have solved it as the repair reinstalls the software in the device.
The last step is to have the device sent in to authorized service centre and it's very important as you mention that it occurs on random that you are very clear about this in the error description, so the device can be tested correctly.
Your Local support team will assist you further with arranging a repair and answer all questions you may have regarding warranty, service routines and consumer laws.
