xperia L1 is it useless?

Less than a week in my Sony Xperia L1 has developed problems. Firstly it said SD card had been removed, when it was still in place. More drastically it went to white home screen Xperia. I could not turn off. Eventually after an hour or so, removed the memory card and sim card. Then it turned itself off. Replaced the cards and luckily it started again. This does not give me confdence in the phone. Reading other forums this seems to be a common fault. I brought my phone from Amazon, what redress do I have as a consumer if it happens again? I want a reliable, easy to use phone not a piece of crap. My last Sony was also a nightmare so struggling to comprehend why I brought another one. People's thoughts please.

Have you experienced any more issues after replacing the SD and SIM cards?

So far no, it has behaved itself. But putting the nano sim card back in itself is far from easy. Youtube came to my assistance. Originally got the O2 guys to put the new sim card in and only one out of three of them could do it!

My L1 nearly went on fire  at the charging port and in two weeks customer service did not get back to me so yes its useless as is the customer service so don't buy....

This is exactly the same issue that i have been having! The so called SIM "tray" is a flimsy bit of card that doesnt seat the SIM properly, once the SIM is in you can't get it back out. The phone constantly states "SIM not inserted no service" when the SIM is in, the battery life is appalling and the minute the charge dips below 100% the phone switches itself off, or does a restart and gets stuck on a white screen. Never have i had a phone with so many issues!!
