Need Advise for Upgrading Memory Card

Please advise what shall I do if I want to upgrade my external memory card from 2GB (as original bundled from SE when I bought it) to 4GB that I bought separately. Should I do some backup or anyting else to keep my files and any installed applications.

Thanks.

If you buy a new card, just copy the contents of the old card to the new card on a PC,   I replaced my card with a 16GB card by removing the junk, then copying the files that were left to the new card.  Works Great

If your apps are stored on the SD card you should move them to the phone memory before doing this. If not you will have to reinstall them all.

Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > On SD card (tab at the top). Tap on each one of them and tap on "Move to phone".

When this is done you should connect the phone in Mass Storage mode to your PC using the USB cable. Transfer all files you don't want to loose. When the new SD card is in the phone you do the same thing but this time you transfer the files the other way.

You can free up some space by deleting the junk.

The following can be safely deleted

- demo videos in .demovideo folder - around 160 mb

- user guide files - 500 mb free

- three trial games in TryandBuy - 185 mb free

you can also delete PC Companion for another 187 mb if you do not use it

Once you are done the total space taken on the SD card is only 263MB.

The easiest way to do this is with a card reader on the PC,, just plug it it and start deleteing.  YOu should make a backup by copying the whole card to a directory on the PC before you start in case you mess up.
