Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

Edited links to work properly (originally double http)
i would be very happy if i did not have the "sticky issue" too, but i have and sony are picking my tv up today to organise a replacement. of course they could not do it on the same day so i have to have 2 days off work.
i have been pondering on what to do when as seems likley they try and palm me off with another sticky one. so a quick surf around shows that you can now buy it for a lot cheaper than the per-order with trade in price, so it a no brianer now. they try and fob me off with another sticky one, i reject it, get my money back, buy a 32" samsung for £199 (which i bet can display a solid blue screen), wait for sony to palm all these sticky sets off to others, then when they get the production sorted out, buy one again and save several hundred quid, sorted.
Bign55,
this whole episode has really upset a lot of us especially when the pre order prices were as high as they were, i done a very quick internet search like you did and i found that for a whole lot less money you get-
Sony kdl55hx923+bdp-s780 player+4 pairs 3D glasses+4 free 3Dfilms !!!- £2774.00
or
Sony kdl55hx923+monolithic stand- £2429.00
great deals to be had there
where are those deals available????? post some links so I can go see.....
that makes things even worse.....so I've paid top money for a faulty set...when I actually could have had a faulty set with free stuff
seriously though i'll definitely be taking this up with my dealer as at the moment irrespective of the next replacement being any good i may as well just cancel that, get my money back and get one of these deals and start the whole process again.
those deals kind of make the 2 extra pairs for the inconvenience sony uk were offering pointless (no offence Lee).
end of the day if I get my money back now its not like i'm going to have to fight to pickup another one via those deals, what with all the bad internet press on these things i hardly think they'll be flying off the shelves!!!!
I think that is the problem they should have used the 2mm brushes....
Hiya Guys
Well i have given mine a few days now to see if i can live with it and last night i found the nail for it's coffin we have spotted a dead/stuck cell:smileysad: I have e-mailed my Sony dealer as i work nights to arrange an exchange i have also asked who is going to foot the bill for delivery? My serial ends 826 So if you would like a faint crease down the right and a dead cell 10.5 cm from the top right if the screen and 21.5cm in from the right edge ask for 826. Come on Sony sort the problem out there is no point leaving stock that you know is defective on the shelf hoping that 1000 Stevie wonder's buy one. It's not good for your company image.
On a side note Lee (START THE CAR) this is not having ago at you but the test set that you took home that you watched and said you could live with it. Put £3000 in the till then see if you can live with it. I like everyone on these forums works bloomin hard in these hard financial times so when Sony aren't man enough to come clean and say yep we screwed up but rest assured we will sort it out and every customer will receive a fault free set soon. But no they rely on Lee as cannon fodder to take all the flack and questions from everyone here.
Lee should be getting a bonus for all this extra hassle he has been saddled with.
i have just been stewing on this situation , while doing some hovering, waiting for sony to collect my sticky tv.
i keep thinking to myself, sony are treating us without any respect/thought, maybe its time to repay the compliment, and just send this tv + stand back, get a refund, a quick google can save you £300, lets see how they like being treat like that.
i have to say i must be a slow learner, as i bought a jvc x9 on pre-order, which has turned out to be mostly a sales con by jvc and jvc has not uttered a peep about any of the faults, all they have done is modify their sales adverts. We have your 10k , tuff luck attitude. I actually thought for a week that sony was not that short sighted.
The Only tv's i have owned for 30years have been sonys, lucking like a mid life crisis is due and swop makers.
just a word of caution, some of the feedback on simplyelectrical has not been good. No personal experience but I steered away due to that feedback. You'll find it if you google it.
fair enough, i was just trying to convey thoughts on deals going around at the moment, it is however, possible that due to this current problem these models are not flying off the shelves at the moment hence the deals around to attract buyers.
your riight simply might not be the best, but a quick google, shows that where we have paid a premium to act
as sonys quality control, you could easily send your sticky one back and pocket serveal hundred quid, while still being able to get a better deal on a new one if they ever sort production out.
You see the longer sony fobs us off, the more it could end up costing them, in money and customer loyalty.
(yes i am still waiting for the collection - all morning wasted so far)
