Hi,
The "Sony Notebook Setup" link in my Start->Programs does nothing when I click on it... help!!
Confused,
Mohit.
Seraphin,
What have you been doing to your new laptop ?!?
Seriously, have you installed anything lately (Windows XP SP 2 ?). You need to get this working as amongst other things it controls some of the hot keys on speaker grill.
Try this first:
Open Windows Explorer, on the C: drive open the Utils folder and double click utils, this should re-install it!
If your still having problems go to My Computer, View System Information, Hardware, Device Manager, Human Interface Devices and update the driver of the Sony Notebook Control Device.
When it asks, select have disk and direct it to the folder on C:\ Drivers\SonyNoteCtrl. Let it finish, and the Sony Notebook Setup utility should now run!
Hope this helps!

Hi Woody!
You are a life-saver :smileyangel:. Yes, reinstalling the utils worked. I think the boroadband install I did must have upset the Sony-supplied utils.
Thanks for that!
And yes, I am quite enjoying my new toy. Have yet to explore all the supplied softwares and features, but have been having great fun simply playing with stuff packed in there.
Btw, have you used wireless n/w in your home? Any handy pointers or good sites on which router brand is the best and most secure?
Have done some google-digging but get confusing reports on leading brands (some say good, some say *&%$$ for same brand).
Thx!
Mohit.
Seraphin,
Glad it worked !
I'll get try to get back to you re. the router as quite a few of my mates have different brands and I'll try and conduct a small survey!!
Enjoy your new toy, er... ...I mean essential life style accessory!
LOL
