I have looked for the adapter for my vaio and there is only the large one it came with. can i use any 100-240v adapter it the socket fits my laptop; an adapter from a more expensive vaio laptop for example?

Best to be careful here, the voltage output of the adapter must match the input requirements of your VAIO - mine for instance requires 19.50V regulated from the adapter - so best to use the model-specific VAIO adapter.
