DVD CD Not Reading

The DVD CD on my VPC-EH3C5E has stopped reading from disc. I have tried all kinds of disc - CD, DVD, data but no joy.

On top of that, throughout Windows the drive is shown to be working fine. I have also tried updating drivers and uninstalling the drive completely.

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Yes, I have similar problems, cd/dvd reader becoming very irratic, amongst other hardware issues. My model being similar to yours. You may find that all drivers are extremely old, like mine. Although the update centre will say they are up to date. However I think there is a problem with Sony/Vaio update services, ie they dont really get new updates. Hardware diagnostics all report no problems, although something must be very wrong. Again Sony have nothing to say about my issues, except recover or restore. Which wont help either by the way.Think they just want you to buy another sony. Good luck anyways
