Yes it certainly should be connected on the front of the computer on the front USB sockets, so you are right there Brian.

What tool are you using to format the cards?
In the case of Sony MemoryStick DO NOT use Windows XP's format command, use the MemoryStick Formatter instead because it formats the device in the File Allocation Table (FAT16) method and not in NTFS or FAT32... But I would assume you would use the MemoryStick slot instead...

If you use SD Cards for instance in a camera they must be formatted in FAT instead of FAT32 unless your camera specifies differently of course - for these it is best formatting them inside the camera instead of the computer...

If it is possible use another computer for testing, or if you are finding it difficult to insert and remove the USB reader try using a USB extension cable...

I hope this helps instead of confusing you!

I would connect the cable to a back USB port, and have the unit at the front for ease of use.

Also because I have a feeling they're better powered, me probably being silly again :dizzy:

@Kee-Lo

U are damn right, some USB ports are not well powered, not all may function properly with some hardware add-ons.
This apply to peecees with more than 2 USB-Ports.
The solution is just to try out where´s the right port.

Example:
-connecting a USB 2.0 HD to an port tells me that this harware can get a better transfer rate when connected to the right USB-Port
-connecting the HD to the right port improves the transfer rate to lightning fast!!!

Example END! :smileygrin:
