Have you 'Upgraded' or have you made a clean installation of Windows 7?  An upgrade version saves many problems.

Have you reinstalled a version of a Blu-Ray player?  Windows cannot play BD Discs.

What software are you using to try to burn DVDs?  I presume it plays DVDs and CDs?

I have the same problems.

If I upgrade my laptop from Vista Home to Windows 7 (Any version), on completion of the windows upgrade I find that almost all the Sony installed applications stops functioning. The system blue screens regularly due to driver issues. If I do a clean install of window 7 I do not see this effect, but I lose ability to play/read/write blue ray DVD and any other function supported by Sony installed software.

I tried doing the restore of vista and then upgrading again, a consequence of this forced upgrade is that the system will have a blue screen event at least once a month. I called your support team about this issue, the response was of what I can only describe as a "So what" attitude. They advise I perform a restore to Vista as this was the only supported OS, while I tried to explain to the support agent that was not a practical option for me, the support agent did not lesson.

You call this a professional product service... If I offered this level of service to my clients, I would not be surprised if I did not have any the next time I looked.

Oh by the way Sony a news flash for you. Your products are not that grate that I and others cannot live without them.

So Sony Ship up or ship out. !!!!

If you cannot or will not provide a full set of divers for your hardware you supplied.
Then I require a full and complete refund for the cost of replacement hardware, to support the current recommended Microsoft operating system.

I look forward to your response.

Hi tondixon,

welcome to Questions & Answers..

As far as I am aware most if not all PC manufacturers only support the original supplied OS..

You mention that you get a blue screen every month or so are you able to reboot after the blue screen.?

Do you get a warning is displayed when the blue screen appears, if so this may help identify where your problems lies..

If a blue screen does not occur when doing a clean install then I guess you could try downloading and installing the available windows 7 driver/utilities from your Vaio's support site -  http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-AR61S/updates

As to the Blu Ray not functioning correctly, Sony do not provide downloads of pre-installed programs, however you could try installing the Win DVD available in the Windows 7 section on the AR61S support site, if that does not install or resolve the problem then I guess you may have to purchase a suitable Blu Ray program that supports both playing & burning, see if there is a trial version though before making the purchase..

Not sure what you mean with the last paragraph below..:smileyconfused:

The current recommended operating system for your AR61S Vaio model is Microsoft Vista of which Sony would still support, however I guess your AR61S is well outside of it's warranty by now..:smileyconfused:
