"com.android.phone stopped working" constantly pops up. There is no service provider detected.
I have cleared data and cache for phone services, restart in safe mode - problem persists. Factory reset done and still have the same issue.
Please help!
Hello I'm with Videotron too and I have the exact same problem with the COM.ANDROID.PHONE message poping over and over again. Shutting down the Mobile Data did the trick for 30 minutes then same message coming back. I'll try to call Videotron and let you know guys.
Thank you all for your messages, they helped me to narrow down the issue.
Yes, was me! I thought of it too... Hope not...
...
I just talked with the Technical Services at Videotron and they told me that Sony wasn't supposed to send the update before tomorrow but they did and it made this message popped up. They asked me to go in a Videotron boutique to change my SIM card to check if it'll fixes the issue and if not they are going to replace my phone and ask me NOT to do the update before January 2018. So I'll do that tomorrow morning and repost here if it works or not.
Hope this help others ... Good luck all !!
Thanks! I call too, and they said than everyone with them, have to in go in a Videotron store and they will change the sims card. If it doesn't correct the problem, they will change the phone for free! Sony will be the one in charge! Apparently Sony was working on the security, but at side effect, it also desactivated the phone fonction. Not sure if i'm clear, my english is a bit(lot) rust!
I had the same problem and went to the Videotron boutique. They where aware of the problem and changed my SIM card, took about 5 minutes. Seems to be working now.
since one hour, i don't have the popup and i observe changes in the system, some functionnalities have been added (grid and transition at the same place you go to add a widget)
Went to videotron tonight and yes they are aware of the problem. They swapped the simcard and it seems to be OK so far...
I'm with videotron too, define ok so far?? How can the SIM card be the problem??
Phone still ok 5 hours after switching the simcard. Videotron is saying that the update from Sony corrupted the simcard somehow ... They just give you a new one and all is good, back to normal.
maybe a compatibility issue with this update and specific videotron simcard ...
