Since the Andriod 8.0.0 update, pressing the Quick Camera button while the phone is in Stand-By results in the camera app starting with a black screen.
I was hoping that along with other issues like the DND button not showing correctly anymore etc it would be resolved with a bug fix release but as yet, nothing.
You can see all the usual icons as if the camera was working correctly expect the actual view finder part is just black. It remains black even if switching to front camera or recording function.
If you take a picture, the picture comes out fine but you just can't see what you're actually viewing on the phone screen.
If you press the button while the phone is active, even on lock screen then it works fine but from Stand-By it just results in a black view finder.
Data cleared and restarted in Safe Mode - same result, no image on view finder 😕
how about diagnostics?
Could you test your device?
Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test
Oreo
Settings > Support > Tests
Everything tests fine.
It just seems to be a bug in the latest update (Oreo) as it worked fine before the update, like so many other things.
I'm experiencing the same issue with my Xperia XA1. I don't have the issue when the camera is already 'awake' and than clicking the camera button. But when waking the phone with the camera button, it shows black (except UI). Also, shooting photos and video still works, although the screen remains black. Ideas?
Same issue here. I downloaded open camera for Google and now works but only with that software and my front camera disappeared
