was out tonite with a few friends at a party and everybody was snapping photos and taking videos
I was aware of the colour saturation "issue" when taking photo's in pubs etc where coloured lights are being used (red in particular) I posted about this before.
The people I'm with are shooting away with varoius devices - samsung notes - HTC's - SS S111 etc, well I could not let any of them see any pictures or video that my EZ had taken -this is nothing to do with compression etc which we all know about
So I sat for about 45mins experimenting with different settings, ISO white balance HDR - absolutly nothing made any difference - the camera on this phone really needs attention, I'm not quite sure why it's so sensitive to coloured light especially at night but it is, so much so that out of 30 odd pictures I took - I only kept one of them as a sample to post here, you'll notice that objects that are close are not saturated because they are influenced by the flash but everything else in this shot are just saturated in a very unatural red - yes there is red background lighting at the location but not nearly as strong as this picture would have you believe - and this shot is one of the better ones
If Sony doesn't fix this very poor camera deployment then some cleaver dev on XDA will port the camera driver from a Samsung 4 and I'll be first in line to install it, here is a sample picture showing the way over colour saturated night shot garbage that this flagship phone cannot take

I have to agree. The image quality is poor and could be improved substantially by simply setting the jpeg quality factor to 100%. File size is a complete non-issue these days with high capacity memory cards, fast uploads and cloud backup such as Dropbox.
Sony has insulted its customers by the big marketing claim for 13Mpx camera and then unilaterally taking the control out of its users' hands.
Please fix this in the next software release.
the only problem I see with your suggestion/comment is that file size may be an issue when it comes to camera speed when using settings like HDR - multi shoot - anti shake etc so I don't think you'll ever get all out raw shooting but certaintly I think improvements can be made, will they spend any more time developing the camera ? that remains to be seen
helloooo SONY fanboy:smileysilly: Come on maaann.. don't sit there asking and beging for their attention and action like a foool!:smileycool: Coz, during my observe in this discussion forum, you guys has BIG hope for sony to repair their issue, software, firmware, assware... ETC. and they (SONY) will do NOTHING.
If you know they'll do nothing, why still complaining and put a BIG hope to SONY?
MOVE your butt guyss! I've been waiting too long for their response. And I am getting tired. now my life is soo complete with my white angel S4:smileylove:. it has better camera quality, sharper, and of course a lot of new features that the other doesn't have. SONY is STILL SONY. They will do something better after the other do something best.
will miss u guys in this forum. hahahahahah!:smileycool:
At 100% jpeg quality the file size is only going to be about 6.5MB. High speed SD cards can be obtained very cheaply and are necessary for full hd video anyway. User choice would be obvious but an immediate fix would be 100% jpeg quality or, if they absolutely must deny us full quality, 90%, which would achieve a significantly smaller file size and almost invisible jpeg artifacts.
I have had 6 Sony digital cameras in my time (which shows that they must have something going for them) and their most persistent jpeg problem is over-processing and over-saturated reds. This uncalled for jpeg compression is really stretching the friendship.
I have just taken some rather tricky photos with this xperia z and I think that the camera is basically quite good. Sony should just let it do its best instead of strangling it.
All they say is it has been escalated, when will you get it SONY , you brand a phone with the so called EXMOR RS sensor to be one of the best shooters in low light, but what you give in return images full of noise in lowlight, the colours are way off sometimes, indoor photos suck .
Low light capabality my ass
Please redo the camera processing alogorithms and give this phone the Pride it deserves .
