UK Sony Xperia Z updates for unbranded phones.

Could somebody from Sony please explain why thousands of us are now 3 updates behind now regarding firmware updates? 

We are still on 434!

How do we get Sonys attention on this?

Gareth, so to bring you back down to earth but that is a generic standard reply, the updates have been "gradually" being rolled out for 4 updates now.

I have spoken to Luke before and this is all that robot says.

There's no problem relating to the serial numbers of your devices. The availibility of firmware updates is solely based on the customization number of the firmware that is currently installed on your device. That's why you receive official updates from Sony (through PC or OTA) if you change to a different firmware customization. So the updates you receive from Sony are for the firmware customization that you are currently using.

Sony still has Generic UK 10.1.A.1.434 firmware on their update server, so they could easily replace this by a newer version if they want. However, if I had a phone with Generic UK firmware, I would already have changed to a different firmware customization a long time ago. If Sony doesn't update that specific customization, fine, but then I wouldn't keep using it either.

yes i know.my g/f got the same phone and network she has receivedthenew 4.2.2but no one else hasnt.im thinking off either goin back to apple or samsung

I have been in touch with their CEO's team and this is their latest reply through customer services.

Thank you for your reply.

I have looked into the details you have provided on our systems and there appears to be no issues with your specific handset receiving the Android 4.2 update however this is still rolling out gradually so may not be available to install just yet.

I  can assure you that there are no factors preventing your handset from receiving this update and once it has become ready to install on your specific handset, the phone itself should notify you. Alternatively, if you regularly connect your handset to our Sony PC Companion software, this would notify you also.

Please accept our apologies for any delay. We do not have a list of dates for when each phone will be updated however we can confirm that our developers are looking to get all handsets updated as quickly as possible and will aim to get the update to your handset soon.

Firmware 10.3.A.0.423 (with Android 4.2.2) already started rolling out 24th June.

Since yesterday, version 10.3.1.A.0.244 is rolling out, which probably only contains bugfixes for the previous update to Android 4.2.2.
