Xperia 1 IV SD Card Extremely Buggy!!! Need fix ASAP!

Hey there!

The Xperia 1 IV has a huge SD card problem. Reads are very slow(around 20MB/s) and writes are completly buggy.

When you start writing large files to the SD card it starts very fast at almost 100MB/s. After 300 to 500MB written the transfer just stops and waits sometimes for up to 10 seconds then starts again.

Currently I'm using a Samsung PRO Plus 512GB (MB-MD512KB) and a SanDisk Extreme 400 GB ( ‎SDSQXA1-400G-GN6MA).

Both cards work fine in my Galaxy S9+, Note 9 and all USB cardreaders I have. Every app has this problem. For filemangers I tried Google Files, Total Commander and Cx File Explorer.

Is there maybe any workaround until Sony releases an update?

Yeah I don't think that they will try to get out of it by saying that I own only fake or broken SD cards.

I even send them screenshots from the cards working just fine in my Galaxy S9+.

I still wonder how they have such a bad support with people that don't even understand basic things like copying files to an SD card.

It took so many emails to tell them that copying sequential data to an SD card should not pause for 10 seconds and then go on. That felt like teaching someone how to use a phone for the first time ever.

I hope my Sony projector never breaks so I have to tell the support that light should come out of the front and darkness is not a normal behavior or something like that.

Wow good news guys!

I left a 1 Star review for the phone on Amazon with all the issues listed and today I got a call from the support team. 😲

The SD card bug is finally at the software dev team so they can take care of it.

They also want to try to resolve all the other issues I found. If thats the case that would be great.

No ... way!

Todays update fixed the SD card somewhat!

Now I can get a stable 29MB/s write on the SD card. Deleting files now takes forever but thats still way better than before!!!

It's not anywhere near all the other phones but at least I can use the SD.
