when will we be able to process a580 raw files in LR3

Hopefully soon as NEX 3 & 5 are supported in LR3.2.

It seems odd to me that Lightroom rejects A580 ARWs based on the model not on the actual RAW format which it already accepts from other Alphas.

I see that someone has managed to fool LR 3.3 RC by changing the model to A55 in the metadata - see post No 77 here in the Adobe Forums: -

Thank you very much for your help, I followed your link and tried the suggestions, but I can not figure out how to make the alterations. I guess I will have to wait for adobe updates.

This week's Mac OS X update brings A580 support. If you are on a Mac, you can open the ARW in Preview and save as TIFF.
