I have a Sony a7riii and was wondering if after watching videos on YouTube of people using less professional cameras than this one, why I can not see a square crop on the view finder. It seems that there is nothing in the menu where i can change the crop view (aspect ratio) for stills. am I missing something or does this camera only have crop view for video.?
Aspect Ratio is the 5th item down, page 1 of the first camera settings menu.
Square wasn't an option with the A7R3 when it was introduced, check the software updates to see if it has been made available later.
So basically it does not have a 1.1 square crop just 3.2 and 16.9
yes..its a shame, this have been requested to be fixed for few years now and still nothing. I need also this for my A7III, but sad thing is that all new cameras already have this, so its they can just easy copy it from A7c or other camera and release it with firmware upgrade..i have no clue why it is so hard to do that.
Not sure if this is a technical limitation for any reason, but if you haven't already (or if you didn't know), you can actively send Sony feedback using the contact form here: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/Contact/Email
