Price vs performance it is very good but it depends on how wide you want to go. If you plan to use it for landscapes then yeah its pretty good but then if you have a 18-50, then that is wider so you might not ever find a use for this lens.
Its difficult to say which lens is suited for each user since everyone has an individual style.
I would honestly recommend visiting a local camera store before buying any lenses and trying some out yourself. Get your own opinions to ensure your money goes on the right lens.
