I've heard that when a Lithium battery is not used for a period of time, it is best stored with a 50% charge.
Any thoughts?
Hi niborSonyA73,
Welcome to the community.
I'll just see if I can find any help regarding this. In the meantime though, maybe another community member might have some ideas.
Thanks,
Pascale
That's absolutely correct, due to the Lithium-ion technology, it's recommended to never let the capacity drop below 20% or rise above 80% to preserve what are referred to "Charge Cycles" and as you've mentioned, if you're going to leave them unused for a while, it's recommended to leave them at a charge between 50% and 70% to prevent accelerated degradation. I learnt this from having done exactly the opposite of everything I just mentioned with my very first smartphone! Hope this helps ^^
Thanks Joe, you have confirmed what I thought was best practice.
Hi NiborSonyA73,
I totally agree with Joe to be honest.
Cheers,
Rose
