TV model 55XG8796, when streaming via airplay using iPhone/iPad/Mac no sound is emitted from tv.
I have tried various applications using airplay and as I say various devices. I have checked the audio output on the tv and also altered the 5.1 surround on and off but no luck.
My airplay on new Sony doesn’t have sound on my iphone. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem on my KD-65AG9 tv.
Found a post that said a power reset should fix it. My tv is fixed and secured to the wall and the power socket is behind it, not easy to do.
So I tried the old computer trick , held the power button down on the remote for about 10 seconds. Up pops a screen with Shut Down or Restart on it.
Clicked on restart, once tv had restarted tried AirPlay again, I had picture and SOUND!
Result, and so easy to do.
Will there be a software update to fix this at some point ?

Purchased the KD55XH8096BU in December, the sound on Airplay has never worked.
TV has inbuilt airplay input, I linked tv to Apple HomeKit fine, I can mirror iPhone screen visual to TV but no sound. Within Spotify app I can select airplay>my device, but no sound.
Tried all the obvious, turned off at plug, checked automatic updates had run, reset Airplay, nothing working. Any suggestions please?
Thanks kebates72. It’s bizarre... I’ve had this problem since December (2020), I always walk away and come back another day to try and resolve; I posted my query to community yesterday and today it’s miraculously resolved itself?! Sound works on iPhone screen mirror and sound works when airplay is selected as output option from Spotify app. Can’t say how I resolved unfortunately, but it’s working
