I am trying to connect my Sony Bravia TV to my home theatre amplifier via ARC, my home theatre only has analogue phono connections so I've been trying different ARC/optical audio extractors, however after trying three the same problem exists so I'm worried it might be the TV.
The issue is whenever sounds starts or stops (pausing or resuming video/audio, switching between video previews in Netflix, changing inputs) there is a loud pop that comes through the amplifier, this doesn't happen if I connect a different optical source to the audio extractors, only through the TV via ARC or optical.
Connecting the headphone output of the TV to the Amplifier RCA input doesn't produce the same problem.
It seems like the TV is starting and stopping the audio stream rather than just outputting no audio, is there a way to disable this?
Try installing KODI, it has an option to keep audio device alive all the time so see if that helps. Sure, even if it does, it means nothing outside of the KODI but at least you will know if that's an issue.
