I am trying to connect a Matsui VCR/DVD Combo to a Sony Bravia KD55AG9BU with no success. The Sony has no Scart connection so I am using the AV In socket on the TV to connect to the Matsui via what I am fairly sure is an analogue extension cable with the usual Yellow/Red and White leads connecting to the Matsui. I receive no picture or sound from the Matsui on the TV, the only thing is a message "No signal. Check the External Output or select another input using the input button. I have tried all the inputs with no success, I do get an AV option as the input, but all I get is the above message. Just in case I have the wrong lead I am attaching an image.
Any advice most welcome.

will adapt your Matsui’s SCART Out to accept your existing lead, if you still have ambitions to run the Matsui into the Sony TV.
Your TV is expecting the following signals on the four sections of your minijack (where 1 is the tip and you work backwards from there):-
1: L
2: Video
3: Ground
4: R
If 1, 2 and 4 are swapped around, this is fixable, but if any of the three RCAs on your cable is connected to section 3 - Ground to the Sony - you will need to swap the cable for one whose minijack is wired how Sony expects.
For a 1, 2, 4 swap though, try each of the three RCAs on Video Out on the Matsui in turn until you get a picture. Once you have a picture, try the other two in turn to see if you get sound, from one or both. If you get sound from both, try to figure out which is left and which is right, from a known recording or a test tape, if you have one.
Then label the three RCAs with what each one should be plugged into, Video, Audio L and Audio R, ignoring the plug colours.
Thank you royabrown2 for your response- much appreciated. Sadly no variation seems to work. The Sony has the combined audio/video into one AV In socket whereas the older sets, of course, had 3 sockets for Video and left and right Audio. I know I have the right lead as it works on a Samsung TV with the same single combined video/audio input in another room. The Sony, however, does not output audio or video no matter what variation I use.
What model of Samsung TV did/does this cable work with? Then I can look at its details to see if its four-pole Jack has the same or different pinouts.
If it has the same pinouts, though, I presume you have switched the TV input to be the one for this connection?

Many thanks. That is exactly what I am now using to connect the Matsui to the Samsung. Strangely it does not seem to work with the Sony, but given I have both VCRs working on the 2 TVs that's fine. Many thanks for all your efforts on my behalf.
