Freesat on Bravia KD49X7052PBU

Hi, i'm considering purchasing a Bravia KD49X7052PBU, however i'm not sure if this model supports Freesat, and the model listed on Currys website lists Freesat support in addition to freeview, but other shops do not list Freesat?

Hi @andrew342003   Looking at the specs there are no satellite tuners included with this TV. You can never assume that Sony TVs with satellite tuners are Freesat (i.e. come with a Freesat Electronic Programme Guide). It is only very recently that the Freesat EPG is being introduced on the Android TVs and on the 8 & 9 series only. Certainly not on the value entry level 7 series Linus TVs like the KD-49X7052.

D'oh! I ended up pasting the wrong model number, it was Sony BRAVIA KD49XH8196BU. The Currys listings shows Freesat and Freeview support, but other retailers do not list this, so I'm not sure if that's an error on Currys part. This model does have a sat input. This article does say certain models have Freesat support, I assume from the model number above, this TV is part of the XH81 series, but I can't find any reference to Freesat on the official Sony product page.

It clearly states that the XH81 is compatible with the Freesat App. Note the “App” so does this mean that you have to download the App from the Play Store and launch it like all other Apps I don’t know.

With a bit of luck somebody with one of these TVs will drop in and confirm.

I also tried looking through available apps for Android TV on the Play Store but I don't think this page lists all apps or the Freesat app may be built-in or introduced in an update (built-in as well).

Just giving an update, I've brought the TV in the end and can confirm this model does have Freesat guide & listings support built in, in addition to Youview.

Just a question. I have a KD49XH8505BU but it will not scan in any satellite channels at all. Did you have to download an app before scanning in the freesat channels?
