Sony Bravia KD43x7052 subtitles in apps do not work

I have bought the above TV, generally it is really good but there is one flaw, if I run any of the TV apps (I player etc.) The program selected does not allow subtitles or even options to change the screen size, this doubly odd because if I select the app on my Humax and play it on the Sony the subtitles display fine.

It is not that the TV is not seeing the remote as when I press the button the small light at the base of the screen flickers but other than that nothing happens.

I think it is the Sony software deactivating the response, Sony seem to be blaming the app but it works fine on other platforms.

As far as I know, the subtitle settings for the TV (i.e. channels) is separate from the app settings, so you'd need to adjust those from the app itself.

You may well be correct but other than playing programs the ap does not seem to do much.

Is your Humax a YouView box? These tend to enforce tight integration between what the app does and what the subtitles button on the Humax remote does, so it’s pretty seamless.

But Android apps all go their own way, so the Subtitles button on the TV remote no more controls subtitles in an app than it controls subtitles on your Humax box.

On Now, for instance, you have the Pause the programme, look on the options that appear for an S icon, and if one is there, navigate to it with left arrow, open it, choose what form you want the subtitles in, and then restart the programme with the Play icon on the remote.

Thus never using the Subtitles button at all.

The BBC iPlayer can be very similar, except they have a silly arrangement where the option says Subtitles Off, which you might take to mean that they are off, but instead it means that if you press the button they will go off. And vice versa.

In this particular case, though, which app are we talking about?

hey joliste4314, press the middle button on the remote then you'll find mini buttons on the screen for pausing and subtitles. It doesn't work using the subtitle button on the remote.
