Hi,
I recently bought the KD-55XH9005BU model. I noticed some shadows on the corners when there's white or lighter image on the screen. Do you think that's normal or should I contact to technical service?
Hi skuscuoglu,
On the picture it already looks quite intense - I would recommend to contact the support.
Cheers
Peter
I contacted the store first. They said it's weird and they'll check it instore next week.
I also contacted Sony via webchat and they said "unfortunately, the matter reported is considered within the specification of the unit"
I have enough experience in working for a TV manufacturing company that this is not an accepted quality for even a low brand TVs.
I'm extremely disappointed. I'll probably return it to the store and ask for a refund after they check it.
It's Normal
I had the very same problem on my 49XG9005, and decided to go down the Sony route to resolve the problem. I had to send them many screenshots of the dark corners before they would exchange it, there are plenty of examples of the same problem on youtube. I would suggest you go back to the shop/dealer who you bought it from and demand a new tv or a refund, rather than persue it with Sony because your consumer rights are with the shop/dealer If you do an exchange with the shop ensure that the replacement will have an extended (say 5 year warranty). If not then ask for a refund and buy a new one with a 5 year warranty. If you go through Sony and they ultimately decide to exchange the TV it will only have the Sony 1 year warranty thats irrespective that your original TV may have had a 5 year warranty it is not automatically transferred to the replacement TV. If they say it is I would suggest you get it in writing/email as evidence. There is no guarantee that the new set will be new or "factory tested" which I think could possibly mean refurbished. I would ask Sony for clarity on that, good luck.
Hi Miltonmaid, thanks for the detailed information.
The retailer took the TV back for testing and they'll let me know the result.
They said I can return and get a full refund even if they think the TV is ok. In this case, I'll ask for a refund.
If they think there's a problem with TV, I can ask for a refund or a new TV. What do you think the chances of having the same problem with a new TV? Did you have the same problem when you get the new one or was it ok?
The retailer sent me a new TV out of the blue, before contacting me.
The new one is even worse, the same shadows are on the corners and new shadows along the edges as well.
There is also some kind of discoloring on the back plastic of TV.
The sticker on the screen was different and also positioned differently than the previous TV, which is strange. Maybe it's a refurbished one?
I'll return it and ask for a refund. This whole transaction has been a big disappointment and waste of time for me so far 😕
Hi all,
I'd recommend people not to buy this TV.
The retailer accepted that there's an issue with the TV and gave me a refund but Sony technical service doesn't accept this as a defect. I think it's a very serious design problem and they still released this model anyway because they know most people wouldn't realise it or complain about it.
I live in Lebanon in the middle east and I bought 55x900h several days ago. Yes I noticed 4 dark corners only on bright color. This is common in this model.
