connection to a projector

hello - we have a proector but no tv.  We tend to watch stuff through the laptop which is connected to the projector via an HDMI. Have just bought the Sony BDP S3700.  My husband is attemtping to connect it to the projector but cannot get it to recognise the player and so cannot get the set-up menu to appear.  Is it essential to have a TV in order to connect properly??

Hi there

You can connect a Bluray player directly to a projector without a TV.  Unfortunately you have not mentioned the brand and model of projector? 

However has you have written that your laptop is connected via HDMI to the projector - this indicates that the projector at least has a HDMI IN port.  What is important to know is if your projector can handle 1080p sources (or 720p Only) and this is kinda where we need more information. 

Assuming that you have set the projector to the right input source, try this:

Please reply back with make/model of projector (doesnt matter if its not Sony).
